A Winter Playground for the Entire Family
Big White Ski Resort, located near Kelowna, BC, is a premier winter destination known for its deep champagne powder and family-friendly atmosphere. With over 2,800 acres of skiable terrain, it offers something for everyone—wide groomed runs for beginners, glades and bowls for advanced riders, and a terrain park for thrill-seekers. The charming, pedestrian-friendly village provides ski-in/ski-out access, along with cozy accommodations, restaurants, and shops. Big White is also packed with non-ski activities like tubing, ice skating, and snowshoeing, making it a well-rounded getaway for all ages. With its reliable snowfall and welcoming vibe.

I’ve visited Big White a few times, and one thing that always stands out is the incredible experience of riding through the snow ghosts. Snow ghosts are those frozen treetops peeking out of the snow. Gliding past these frost-covered trees feels almost otherworldly, like stepping into a winter fantasy. The mountain itself is expansive, offering plenty of quiet runs where you can carve wide powder turns without feeling crowded or rushed. The terrain is generally wide and mellow, making it ideal for those who love laid-back cruising. While the valley views are impressive, they don’t quite compare to the dramatic vistas of the Rockies or Coastal Mountains. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, head into the tree lines—navigating the tight spaces and quick turns will definitely get your adrenaline pumping.

The village at Big White features around 20 restaurants, cafes, delis, pubs, and nightclubs, providing plenty of options for après-ski. Just keep in mind that dining in the village comes with a bit of a premium price tag. Accommodation is available right in the village, offering ski-in/ski-out convenience, but you’ll want to book early as spots fill up quickly. If you can’t snag a place in the village, Kelowna is just a 55-minute drive away and has plenty of lodging options. While you’re there, why not visit a local winery and enjoy the unique charm of a winter wine-tasting experience? Big White truly offers a mix of adventure and relaxation for a memorable ski trip.
