Where Adventure Peaks
Skiing at Whistler Blackcomb is nothing short of legendary. Nestled in the stunning Coast Mountains of British Columbia, it’s the largest ski resort in North America, offering over 8,000 acres of diverse terrain. From perfectly groomed trails to challenging alpine bowls and powder-filled glades, Whistler Blackcomb has something for every level of skier. Combine that with a vibrant village, world-class amenities, and breathtaking mountain views, and it’s easy to see why this resort is a bucket-list destination for winter sports enthusiasts.

Riding at Whistler Blackcomb is an unforgettable experience that goes beyond just the slopes. The sheer size of the resort and the variety of terrain make it a paradise for skiers of all levels. One moment, you’re carving down perfectly groomed runs with panoramic views of the Coast Mountains, and the next, you’re diving into powder-filled bowls or gliding through serene, tree-lined glades. The lift system is efficient, getting you where you want to go quickly, so you can spend more time enjoying the incredible terrain.
And when the day on the mountain winds down, Whistler’s vibrant village takes center stage. It’s packed with world-class restaurants offering everything from gourmet dining to casual comfort food. Whistler Blackcomb seamlessly blends outdoor adventure with exceptional dining and entertainment, making it a destination that truly has it all.

This is a world-class ski destination, but its popularity comes with a price—both in money and time. Conditions are typically great, and there’s always something new to explore on the mountain. My best experience was renting a short-term room for the season while working remotely, which allowed us to pick the best days to ride. On weekdays, you’ll find dedicated early-morning riders squeezing in a few powder runs before heading to work in the afternoon.
That said, accommodations are expensive, and housing is scarce. Many Whistler locals feel the pinch, with stories of people renting closets just to have a place to sleep. Meanwhile, the community is a mix of seasonal workers living paycheck to paycheck and some of the wealthiest people in the world with luxury homes they only visit once a year. Be mindful and appreciate the locals who keep the resort running while navigating the challenges of living in this iconic mountain town.

HERE ARE SOME TIPS
Avoid the Traffic Jam
After a long day on the mountain, heading straight back to the city can mean sitting in traffic. Instead, why not wait it out at a local restaurant and refuel with some well-deserved food? Some of my top picks include Samurai Bowl Whistler, Dusty’s Bar & BBQ, Whistler Brewing Company, and Ohyama Ramen. It’s a much better way to end the day than idling in your car!
Arrive Early for the Best Experience
The early bird gets the best powder! Arriving early not only allows you to snag prime parking but also gives you the chance to beat the crowds and enjoy freshly groomed runs or untouched powder. Plus, the views during the morning golden hour are absolutely stunning. If you are driving from Vancouver… think about leaving at 5am or earlier.
Explore Beyond the Main Runs
While Whistler and Blackcomb have plenty of iconic groomed trails, some of the best experiences are off the beaten path. Venture into the Symphony Amphitheatre, Harmony Bowl, or Seventh Heaven for incredible powder and breathtaking scenery. If you’re new to these areas, consider hiring a guide to help you navigate the terrain safely.
