Far Above

Mount Baldy Resort sits at 1,726 metres above sea level, nestled near Canada’s only desert and surrounded by scenic views of local wineries. It’s a small, community-driven mountain known for its incredible glade runs and dry, champagne powder.

This place is truly a local gem. With only two chairlifts at the base near the lodge, lift lines are short and the vibe is laid-back. The left chairlift leads to my favourite area—wide-open glades with mellow transitions and uniquely spaced trees that feel different from any other BC resort.

We visited in spring and lucked out with 5 cm of fresh snow overnight—just enough to carve deep turns through the soft stuff. If you prefer groomed corduroy, there are a few solid runs to enjoy. The terrain is surprisingly varied for a smaller resort, and if you’re up for a little adventure, you can hike beyond the lifts to find untouched stashes.

Whether you're chasing powder or just soaking in the views, Mount Baldy delivers a unique and rewarding experience.

HERE ARE SOME TIPS

Lodge Restaurant / Bar
The lodge stays open late, until 10pm. Making it a perfect spot to hang out after a day on the slopes or if you’re camping overnight and need a cozy place to unwind.

Avoid Potholes
On the drive up, watch out for potholes along the dirt road. They can sneak up on you quickly. Take it slow and steer around them to avoid any damage to your vehicle.

Pros

  • Two peaks to explore, offering different snow conditions depending on the sun's direction
  • Mellow runs, not too steep
  • Friendly staff and other skiers
  • Excellent glade runs
  • Overnight camping in parking lot is allowed

Cons

  • Limited trails
  • Short runs

This local mountain is a hidden gem just off the Crowsnest Highway 3. If you're passing through, it’s well worth stopping in for a session. You’ll enjoy stunning scenery paired with deep powder runs. It’s wild how you can be in shorts and a T-shirt down in Osoyoos, then drive up here and step right back into winter.
