A Powder Paradise with Steep Terrain
Revelstoke Mountain Resort, located in British Columbia, is a first-rate winter destination renowned for its incredible powder, steep terrain, and world-class vertical. With 1713m vertical decent—the most in North America—this resort is a paradise for advanced skiers and snowboarders seeking challenging runs and untouched backcountry. Revelstoke boasts over 3,000 acres of skiable terrain, including glades, open bowls, and groomed trails, ensuring options for all skill levels.

The resort is also famous for its heli-skiing and cat-skiing opportunities, offering unparalleled access to pristine, untouched snow. For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, Revelstoke features cozy lodges, après-ski options, and stunning views of the surrounding Selkirk and Monashee mountain ranges.

We were lucky enough to experience a cloud inversion once we reached the Stoke chairlift, with the sun softening the snow perfectly. It felt like every run was a new adventure. Despite it being a holiday weekend, we were still able to find fresh powder in hidden pockets. If you’re a fan of glade runs, you’ll love it here—grab a group of friends and dive into the tree runs for an unforgettable experience.

HERE ARE SOME TIPS
Local Restaurants
Dining options in town fill up quickly, so it’s best to plan ahead. Beyond the typical fast-food chains, there are a few fantastic spots worth visiting. We enjoyed flavorful Japanese dishes at Kawakubo Revelstoke and tried the trendy new Mexican restaurant, Cantina del Centro, which is conveniently connected to a bowling alley.
Avoid the Highway Hotels
Looking back, we wish we had chosen accommodations closer to downtown. The hotels along Highway 1 felt run-down and had an unpleasant smell. They were mostly filled with out-of-province sledders with large trailers and noisy truck engines outside of your window. It was a mixed experience—while we were there for skiing and would have preferred being surrounded by fellow skiers and snowboarders, we did end up chatting with other Canadians we probably wouldn’t have met on the slopes. It gave us a chance to broaden our perspective on public land use.

Pros
-
Two bowls to explore, offering different snow conditions depending on the sun's direction
-
Steep runs for those looking to push their limits
-
Exciting tree runs for some added fun
Cons
-
Limited trail signage, with other newcomers often asking for directions
-
Snow conditions below the Stoke chairlift were less than ideal due to exposure (Not sure if its a rare condition for early January)

While the resort offers an unforgettable experience, its remote location and advanced terrain mean it’s best suited for intermediate to expert riders. Whether you're chasing deep powder or exploring its diverse trails, Revelstoke Mountain Resort promises a truly epic winter adventure.
