In the Heart of the Rockies
Fernie Alpine Resort, located in the Canadian Rockies on the south-eastern tip of British Coulmbia. It is renowned for its deep powder, diverse terrain, and spectacular mountain views. With over 2,500 acres of skiable terrain, it offers something for every skill level, from beginner to advanced. The resort is particularly popular for its extensive glade skiing, challenging runs, and wide open bowls. Its laid-back vibe and friendly atmosphere make it a favourite for locals and visitors alike. Fernie also boasts great après-ski options, cozy accommodations, and a lively community feel, making it a top destination for winter sports enthusiasts.

We had an amazing time exploring this mountain. If you're a fan of bowls, you're in for a treat with five different ones to choose from. The Great Bear Express chairlift takes you up to Cedar Bowl, where a short bootpacking hike along the ridge leads to some epic drops. We had such a blast on our first visit, trying to hit every chairlift. Eventually, we decided to stick to one area and just enjoy it. With clear blue skies, the surrounding mountains were absolutely breathtaking. This might just be my favorite spot—it's so far from Vancouver that I completely forgot about the ocean. Its remote location means fewer tourists, which made the experience feel special. The locals were incredibly friendly, and it was such a refreshing contrast to the crowds in places like Whistler or Banff.
