Your Winter Adventure, Just Around the Corner

Cypress Mountain is located just 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver, is a exceptional ski resort offering a perfect blend of convenience and adventure. Renowned for its stunning views of the city and ocean, the resort features 61 alpine ski runs, 6 chairlifts, and extensive terrain for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced thrill-seekers. Cypress also boasts one of the largest Nordic areas in the region, offering cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and a snow-tubing park. With modern facilities, night skiing, and a welcoming alpine lodge, Cypress Mountain offers an unparalleled winter experience just minutes from home.

My favourite local mountain is ideal for night skiing, with the opportunity to do laps on the Sky Quad chairlift under the stars. It’s a fantastic option for anyone looking to hit the slopes and get in some practice without venturing too far. Perfect for after-work sessions, you can grab drinks and a bite at the outdoor patio. It’s definitely a better way to spend your evening than staying home and watching Netflix.

HERE ARE SOME TIPS

Raven Ridge Chairlift
These runs are more challenging, making them less crowded with beginners. They’re not always open, so if you find them available, I highly recommend checking them out.

Parking - to Pay or Not to Pay
Traffic on Cypress Bowl Road is often an issue, so plan accordingly. For parking, there’s a paid option closer to the lodge, costing $10 for pass holders and $20 for visitors. Free parking is available in Lot 3B, but be prepared for a 20-minute walk to the lodge. Alternatively, I recommend taking the shuttle bus for a more convenient option.

Pros

  • Conveniently close to the city, yet far enough to feel like a true getaway
  • Easily accessible for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced
  • Free overnight parking available in Lot 3B

Cons

  • Often crowded, with long chairlift lineups
  • Limited natural snow, making the difference between natural and machine-made snow noticeable
  • Less challenging terrain compared to other resorts

If you’re short on time but crave the feeling of snow under your feet, Cypress Mountain is the perfect choice. It’s a great spot to get some turns in and warm up your legs for the season. Bring along your beginner friends and enjoy a fun, relaxed outing. Keep your expectations low, focus on having a good time, and make the most of the conditions.
